How TintOS Hiring works

A place for window tinters and tint shops to find each other and build a real reputation. It’s free for tinters and for shops.

For tinters

Your Tinter Passport holds your skills, work photos and video links, certifications, work history and the films and tools you know. It starts private. You choose whether it’s public, which sections show, and whether your phone and email are ever shown. Your street address is never shown.

When you apply, the shop sees your Passport (and your résumé only if you attach it). Phone numbers are shared both ways only once you’re hired. Until then you can talk in TintOS messages.

For shops

Post full-time, part-time, contract, apprenticeship or one-time jobs. Applicants move through New → Reviewing → Interview → Offer → Hired, and every step is recorded. Private notes stay with your shop. Shops that don’t use the rest of TintOS can make a free hiring-only account at /work/hire.

Verified employer means a person at TintOS checked the business phone number, address and a website or public business listing. It doesn’t rate the shop — reviews do that.

Review rules

  • Reviews only come from a job both sides were part of, after it’s marked done. Applying isn’t enough.
  • Each side can review the other once per job, within 30 days of finishing.
  • Reviews are written blind: neither shows until both are in, or 14 days pass. You can edit yours until then, never after.
  • Shops are rated on pay and clarity, communication, scheduling, safety and training. Tinters on reliability, quality, communication, conduct and procedures.
  • Shops can confirm skills a tinter showed on a finished job. Those skills show a ✓ on the Passport.
  • Anyone reviewed can post one public response.
  • Tinters are shown on shop reviews by first name only.
  • With fewer than three reviews, the average is labeled as too few to judge.
  • Reviews never affect search order or job matching.

Reports, disputes and appeals

Anyone can report a review. The person a review is about can dispute it as untrue. A person at TintOS reads every one and writes down the decision.

  • Removed: threats, harassment or hate, discrimination (race, religion, sex, age, disability and similar), spam.
  • Hidden until fixed: private information such as phone numbers, addresses, health or family details.
  • Hidden only with evidence: false statements of fact, or reviews written to retaliate for a complaint.
  • Kept: honest opinions about the work, even harsh ones. A review isn’t false just because it’s negative.

Either side can appeal a decision once, and the appeal decision is written down too.

Privacy & safety

  • Your Passport is private until you make it public. Pay expectations are hidden unless you turn them on.
  • Your email, phone and résumé are never public unless you choose. Résumés go only to shops you send them to.
  • Uploaded files are checked to be real photos or PDFs. Videos are links to YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook.
  • You can download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, from Settings. Finished jobs and reviews stay on the other side’s records as “Former member”.
  • Real shops never ask you to pay to apply, buy equipment up front, or send money or gift cards. Report it if they do.
  • Matching uses skills, distance, experience and the work and pay you want — never age, gender, race, religion, or reviews.

Community and Post of the Month

Tinters and shops can share new tools and gear, techniques and tips, install contests, trade shows and conventions, and their own work. Others can mark a post helpful and comment.

  • Keep it about the trade. Sharing a product you use is fine; repeated advertising isn’t.
  • No personal attacks, threats, hate, or other people’s private information. Anyone can report a post or comment, and a person at TintOS reviews it.
  • Only post photos and videos you made or have permission to share. Clips can be up to 60 seconds.

How the feed picks posts: “For You” shows newer posts first, lifted by what you’ve found helpful, saved, commented on or watched (its topic and hashtags), people and shops you follow, and the skills on your Passport or shop profile. “Not interested” shows you fewer like it. It never uses your age, gender, race or anything like that, and nobody can pay to be in it. Each post says why it’s there, and the feed stops with “You’re all caught up” instead of scrolling forever. Following, Latest and Top this week are plain lists.

Post of the Month: every month a person at TintOS picks the best post — the most useful, original or well-made — and the person or shop who shared it wins a gift. Helpful marks are considered but don’t decide it. Anyone with an account in good standing can win; nothing to buy and nothing to enter beyond posting. The winner is told in TintOS and by email, and TintOS contacts them to send the gift.

Sharing and invites

You can share jobs and your Passport anywhere. Invite links count who joined from your link. There are no referral rewards — if that ever changes, the rules will be written here first.
